Forum of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched in India

The Business Forum of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation began its work in India on Monday.

"On April 3, a forum organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) began its work in India. The Russian delegation at the forum is very extensive — more than 120 people will take part in it, including representatives of regions and regional business companies. There has never been such a large-scale forum, in such a format," said Mr Igor Piasetskii, Honorary Representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in India.

Mr Piasetskii noted that the forum was attended by representatives from the light, chemical, pharmaceuticals, IT, mechanical engineering, automotive, and innovative technologies industries. He added that Russian companies sent Indian partners information about themselves, their business and their wishes for meetings in the B2B (business-to-business) format.

"Either Russian companies themselves found partners on the Internet, or they used the information provided by FICCI. The B2B format assumes that the participants have already become familiar with the activities of each of their parties. At their negotiations, some agreements should be reached on further steps," he said.

The event is held under the patronage of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Mr Sergey Katyrin, who heads the Russian delegation. As noted in the statement of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian companies mainly represent medium-sized businesses. It is expected that over 300 Indian businessmen will take part in the meetings with the Russian delegation.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation noted that the Indian partners have prepared a rich business program — in addition to the forum, the visit of the Russian delegation will include the signing of an updated cooperation agreement, visits to technoparks, special economic zones for industrial development, and the inauguration of the Headquarters of the Honorary representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in India. There will also be a presentation of the program of exhibition events by Expocentre for 2023.

"FICCI has previously deployed a special electronic platform on its infrastructure, the use of which significantly increases the practical impact and efficiency of the planned negotiations," the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation noted.

The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen relations with the business associations of India, promote the establishment of direct contacts between Russian businesses and the Indian business community, as well as familiarize with new opportunities for cooperation.
